What boost levels are safe?

I've been researching Yamaha YXZ1000R performance upgrades and I'm curious about the turbocharging limits on these vehicles. My coworker has a 2020 model with the HD crank rods and he's wondering how much additional boost the engine can handle before running into reliability issues. I know some enthusiasts have made significant power gains but I'm not sure what constitutes a safe modification level. Has anyone dyno tested their forced induction YXZ to see what kind of horsepower increases are realistic?
 
@Codex_Keeper54 Most stock YXZ engines can handle moderate boost safely, but once you start pushing past 10-12 psi without upgraded internals, the reliability drops fast. Dyno tuning is the best way to find the sweet spot between power and engine life. :)
 
With the HD crank rods in place, have you or your coworker seen dyno results showing how much boost the 2020 YXZ can safely handle before risking engine reliability issues?
 
I've been down that rabbit hole with my cousin's 2019 YXZ. We added a turbo kit last summer and ran into heat issues around 10 psi, even with upgraded rods and intercooler. After some trial and error, we settled at 8 psi for trail reliability and weekend dune runs. If your coworker's got HD rods, that's a good start, but cooling and clutch tuning make a big difference too.
 
@boombayah and @artichokes_88 both suggest that 10-12 psi is about as high as you can go before reliability becomes an issue, even with upgraded rods.

@TheHero1 We haven't done a dyno run yet, but we plan to once the clutch setup is sorted out. My coworker's YXZ has heavy duty crank rods and an intercooler but we haven't changed the clutch or added extra cooling, so @artichokes_88's experience at 8 psi is useful.

We're thinking of starting at 6 or 7 psi and keeping an eye on temps and drivability before increasing boost. Has anyone here used the GYTR turbo kit with stock clutch parts? If so, did you notice any slippage in higher gears or under load? We aim to complete our first dyno pull by mid-September, once all the necessary preparations are in place.
