While I was talking to the owner who sold me the YXZ1000R he mentioned that he wanted to doe a push to start conversion and at that point I was like nah, I'm good. Unfortunately the idea stuck with me and I'm rethinking this. Is something like this even possible?

Yeah, a push to start conversion is definitely possible, but it's not a simple bolt on kit. You can't just buy a kit from Amazon and expect it to work.
You'll have to get a wiring schematic for the YXZ's ignition and either build your own custom circuit or get an aftermarket ignition module.

The good news is that if you're comfortable with wiring and basic electronics, it's a very doable project. The key is to correctly bypass the key cylinder and wire in a new relay and button

It’s doable, but @AvocadoToast said everything you needed to know about it. It’s actually more of a wiring project than a plug and play mod. So if you’re in Montana riding dust and mud, maybe you have to really consider how to weatherproof that button.
